One night at the bustling Lantern Festival, a dragon lantern is missing, the siblings are missing from their parents, and others are missing a piece of their hearts.

  • NORMA

Mum is quick-witted and always ready with a clever fix. Gentle and calm on the outside, she’s a master at untangling sibling squabbles and the glue that keeps the family in one piece. Fun fact: her bag is always full of unusual surprises, often the sisters’ favourite snacks.

  • LOKYI

Big sister, Lokyi is bouncy, kind, and always full of big questions. Like, “What happens if a singer gets the hiccups on stage?” She loves a challenge, especially if it means proving she’s faster than Samyi, braver than Mum, or can eat more dumplings than Dad.

  • SAMYI

Samyi is the little sister. Like a bunny, she’s often hopping along right behind Lokyi. Put paint or food in front of her, she can be quiet one moment and in full Godzilla mode the next! Fun fact: when Samyi raises her little index finger, it usually means she approves.

  • WILL

Dad is always trying to make Mum laugh. He often fails, but never stop trying. Most of his workouts come from lifting and tossing the sisters onto the couch. He’s a master at building forts… but the shed in the backyard is still very much a work in progress.

About L&S

Created here in Aotearoa, Lokyi & Samyi is a children’s series that blends Kiwi life with the cultural traditions of a young immigrant family. Through the eyes of two curious siblings, the stories explore family, belonging, and the small but meaningful moments that shape childhood.
